“The golden opportunity you are seeking is in yourself. It is not in your environment, it is not in luck or chance, or the help of others; it is in yourself alone.”
– Orison Swett Marden, was an American writer associated with the New Thought Movement. He also held a degree in medicine, and was a successful hotel owner.
“Success for me isn’t a destination it’s a journey. Everybody’s working to get to the top but where is the top? It’s all about working harder and getting better and moving up and up.”

On November 12, 2011, Dare 2 Dream Leaders, Inc. youth participated in a Day of Service at the Brooklyn Bridge Park Conservancy. Youth had the chance to learn about the process of going green by visiting areas of the park with green roofs, solar roofs, and learning about the park benches that have been recycled from pieces of an old building torn down to build the park. As you can see below our youth had the chance to get real hands on experience on what it takes to care for the parks in NYC.
We would like to personally thank our tour guide Kara Gilmour, Director of Education at the Brooklyn Bridge Park Conservancy for the educational tour and enriched experience. We had a great time and we hope to return in the spring.
October 22, 2011 –
Dare 2 Dream Leaders, Inc. volunteered at Prospect Park’s “It’s My Park” Day of Service. Our group included 12 youth participants from IS 240 Hudde and the East Flatbush community, two parents and D2D’s group of interns. On this day we geared up with rakes, shovels and brooms to clean Prospect Park so the park would be clean for all of the festivities that are taking place this week. The students enjoyed helping their community and hanging with one another outside of school. One of our participants had this to say about the day “I had so much fun helping the earth and feeding the swans”.
D2D encourages our youth to participate in community service activities in hopes to instill in them the importance of giving back to their community. It is very important for our youth to learn how to get involved in their community as well as volunteer and serve at this young age. The students are looking forward to the next community building activity!
